In the Philippines, the K-12 curriculum was established in 2013. It is an additional two years in high school known as Senior High School or Grade 11 – Grade 12. It's a new curriculum that gives students the option of choosing which track they want to pursue between Academic, technical-Vocational-Livelihood, and the Sports and Arts Strand.

After Junior High School, students are starting to ask themselves what they want to be in the future. It's difficult to decide for students who don't yet know their talents, skills, or the profession in which they belong. There will be a great deal of uncertainty in their minds, and they will start asking their friends and parents for advice on which path should choose. Some students who have known exactly which profession they belong to can make quick decisions, but there is often disagreement when it comes to their finances or family’s opinion. It's possible that they won't be able to pursue their goals because their family opposes them. It may lead them to choose what comes first in their minds or simply to choose their guts to complete Senior High School. In college it is different, you have to think about your major a lot more, and you have to decide what occupations you want to pursue.
